Strong Finish for the 1st Half of 2021
Stock markets made a strong finish for the 1st half of 2021 with about +13% gains for all major indexes. Although there was a little pullback in May and June, they recovered quickly and made new highs again.
Recently, offensive sectors (technology, consumer discretionary) reclaimed the leadership. Today, biotech decides to join the leader board also as shown.
Market participants downplay the inflation risks. Aggressive buying patterns reveal the hope for economic recovery. Therefore, we can see retailers, restaurants, hotels, recreations regain upside momentum. Technology also shoots up fast. The core sector in industrial and energy also ramp up with the expectation on multi-trillion infrastructure projects.
There will be a period that the stock market would roll over and top out. It is possible to occur in the second half of 2021. We do not have a crystal ball to know the exact timing but we keep watching it. Until then we keep buying, holding, and taking profits on the way up.
