While the stock markets are in low volume for the past two weeks on the rebound, the next major event could be the coming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC Summit this week in San Francisco, USA.
Normally, APEC is less significant than in the past. But this year could bring out a milestone for the relationship between the US and China. Yes. The leaders Biden and Xi are expected to meet as well. Not only APEC represents nearly 40 percent of the world’s population, almost half of global trade and over 60 percent of the global economy, but also which side to stand between the wars of Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas,
Both sides have many agendas to discuss and negotiate.
China has strong motivation to keep a smooth relationship with the US in order to rescue its falling economy. The US has been in passive positions in dealing with the balloon invasion and various military confrontations in the South China Sea and Taiwan strait.
We do not know what will be the outcome but we think it could be important to pay attention to.
